Date: March 3rd, 2018
Our destination was Tsomogo(Chagu) Lake - Nathula.
Tsomgo Lake, also known as Tsongmo Lake or Changu Lake, is a glacial lake in the East Sikkim,40 kilometres from Gangtok. Located at an elevation of 3,753 m (12,313 ft). As per Wikipedia,Tsomgo is made of two words 'Tso' meaning "lake" & 'Mgo' meaning "head" which gives the literal meaning as "source of the lake". It remains close on Monday & Tuesday for civil
We had already told that we need to reach Nathula stand approx 8am for Tsomogo Lake trip. As Nathula & baba-Mandir was closed due to snowfall, we could go till Tsomogo.
The permit cost for Nathula,Baba-Mandir & Tsomogo was Rs. 700/- per head
Yesterday, it was raning whole night. There was no power also. When we reached bus stand it was cats & dogs type raining. There were 8 people in our Jeep. When we left Gangtok, it was cloudy. Not even able to saw any mountain view. We talked that I was so unlucky... Wrick told, that he was so unluckey. Whenever he companied anyone, the trip would not be success.
When we crossed the 12th Mile,15th Mile it was totally cloudy. Not even to see the car which is just before us. Also it was too much cold. All were told that there is no chance to view anything.
I was just crossed finger. Only tried to belive myself, that I am not so unlucky. When we just few kilometer away from Tsogomo, we just take a turn & surprisingly found that the surroundings were so clear..we were able to view the snow clad mountains everywhere.Though it was not suny, but the view was quite clear. Thanks God to give me the oppurtunity to view this amazing nature.
There was no other colour, only black & white, but the view was so amazing that I can not describe it by words only. I did not feel that any other colour will sketch such amazing picture for me.
We left a jeep & started to take a circle around the lake. The road covered with ice.So it was sleepery too.
